Three incredible and informative days of the INSEAD Alumni Forum Asia 2018, the Asia launch of The Campaign for INSEAD: A Force for Good and the reunions for MBA’16J&D, MBA’17J&D and MBA’03J&D kicked off in Singapore on a rainy morning on 9 November 2018. Alumni from around the globe returned to friends and classmates with excitement for what was to come.
Anil Gaba, Professor of Risk Management and ten-time winner of the Best Teacher Award for his MBA core course, led the day with a full-house faculty session on heuristics and bias. Returning alumni and Forum participants packed the amphi to hear the ever insightful and witty professor.
Following this, alumni split into groups as they traveled across Singapore to visit top-tier organisations including Google, Grab and Expedia for an afternoon of company visits and career discussions.
The evening brought with it the Salamander Awards, hosted by the Dean of INSEAD, Ilian Mihov. At the event, he recognised alumni for their contribution towards the school’s mission and vision. Reminiscing about the years since their time as classmates, the day ended with dinner and deep conversations between the alumni, Dean Mihov and friends.
A sunny 10 November began early with a breakfast discussion of INSEAD Women in Business. Moderated by the founder of EnRupt and INSEAD alumna, Katarina Uherova Hasbani EMBA’14D, the conversation centered on what businesses are currently doing and the action required in future to ensure gender equality in the workplace.
Other sessions during the day included panel discussions, workshops and lectures on Business as a Force for Good, Artificial Intelligence and Managing Stress and Anxiety as the Forum moved from our Asia Campus to the scenic Gardens by the Bay!
Minister of Trade and Industry in Singapore, Mr. Chan Chun Sing, delivered a motivating and compelling keynote at The Gardens about the significance of Business as a Force for Good and Singapore’s active effort towards sustainable businesses and ensuring business and society are mutually beneficial. He encouraged alumni to contribute to the future of business and society, stating: “You are from INSEAD and if you are from INSEAD, you can do it.”
Panelists filled the afternoon with discussions on societal expectations for the behaviour of business organisations and their leaders and how digitalisation in Southeast Asia has been competing and co-operating with titans from China and the US.
Their experience and knowledge brought the Forum to an end and the launch began!
Alumni returned to Gardens by the Bay for the Asia launch of The Campaign for INSEAD: A Force for Good. Associate Dean of Advancement, Nida Januskis, welcomed everyone and introduced the evening.
Following speeches from student speakers, Pranjal Kalra MBA’18D and Madelynne Wager MBA’18D, and Campaign Chair, Rémy Best MBA’93D, Dean Ilian Mihov launched the Campaign in Asia with an inspirational speech about the power of INSEAD Alumni and the vision, values and ventures that INSEAD is determined to take forward during the Campaign!
A mix of cultures and festivities brought the stunning evening to a memorable end.
